Nuage de Swing – Laurent Courtois

Musicien, guitariste et contrebassiste – médaillé du Conservatoire National de Région de Grenoble -, il dirige le quintette Nuages de Swing (l’un des rares orchestres à reprendre la formule la plus jazz de Django Reinhardt, à savoir celle du 2e Quintette du Hot Club de France avec clarinette et batterie et au son de guitare amplifiée par le fameux Stimer), se produit dans de nombreuses occasions et croise la route de musiciens réputés tel Angelo Debarre, Tchavolo Schmitt, Florin Niculescu, Mandino Reinhardt, David Reinhardt, Sébastien Giniaux, David Reinhardt, Christophe Lartilleux… Laurent est un amoureux de la musique de Django et selon Alain Antonietto, auteur de nombreux articles et livres sur le génial Manouche, il est l’“un des rares gadjé à avoir ressenti l’irrépressible mélancolie de l’univers musical manouche de Django.”

Au delà de la virtuosité technique du “maître”, c’est la vitalité et la profondeur de son jeu qui le touche.

Sa programmation intitulée “A la Santé de Django” qui existe depuis 2005 est très suivie à Grenoble.

Son site Nuages de Swing est également bien connu de tous les amateurs de jazz manouche car il offre de nombreux play-a-long pédagogiques à télécharger et qui ont permis à bon nombre de musiciens de se lancer dans le style.

S’il est bien connu dans le Jazz manouche, sa musique est pourtant plus large, toujours tournée vers le jazz et il propose ses compositions qu’il interprète à la guitare électrique. Il s’exprime également à la contrebasse, plus souvent dans un style Bebop, essentiellement au service d’autres artistes qui font appel à lui.
